Tips for Doubling and Tripling Your Productivity at Work and Play!

All along the countdown to the new year I have been providing you tips and tools for preparing, planning and pursuing your business and life goals and dreams. A great deal of the focus has been on how to set goals, prioritize your workload, and ways to prevent distractions or procrastination.

With just 17 days to go… it is time you focused on increasing your productivity and effectiveness in achieving those goals…this time, one week at a time (Day 19 focused on 1 day at a time to set goals – check it out).

One key tactic most people overlook is reviewing, assessing and adjusting either their progress on the actions being taken, or the goals defined. If you want to guarantee doubling or tripling your productivity, follow these simple steps that can be done each WEEK:

1) Earlier posts outlined steps to define your yearly and monthly. Then each Saturday or Sunday, to take 15 minutes and define your weekly goals and actions that are needed in order to achieve that Monthly goal.

2) Now, each Friday day end or Saturday,  you want to:

  • Review your weekly progress on the Weekly Goal you defined. Make note of the Actual Result against the Planned Result for any of the quantifiable or qualifiable measurements you put in place.
  • Assess your progress –  Looking at the results and considering your activity – Did I achieve my goal? If not, why? What distracted me or propelled me throughout the week? What did I do to achieve the goal, or what could I have done?
  • Adjust your plans and approach for the following week using the best practices or lessons you learned for the current week.
    • Consider from an earlier post the distractions or self-sabotaging mindset that may have caused you to miss your goals. What can you do differently this coming week? If you made your goal, what worked for you that you can continue doing.
  • Consider if your goals were to aggressive or not aggressive enough – and make adjustments now. Remember – it is better to complete and/or achieve 1 goal successfully then to push around papers and tasks, only to complete several things partially.

If you take time each week (even daily) to review, assess and adjust your productivity, you will DEFINITELY see your effectiveness and success double, if not triple, towards achieving your goals.

Try it for a week….. go back and review prior posts for tips and tools for defining, prioritizing, and taking RICHaction.. then come back for additional tips all the way to January 1.

Good luck, let me know how it goes…..
