LEADERtip of the Day!

With most businesses ending their fiscal year at the end of December it is now time for them and their leaders to close out 2014 with a bang and prepare to cheer in 2015. To do this most effectively there are a few critical things you should focus on doing over the next 25 days before the champagne is raised in a toast!!

HONOR your hard work over the last 12 months:

  • Evaluate your 2014 goals and objectives, and assess the progress that was made or the challenges that you encountered. Consider the good, the bad and the ugly and make adjustments as needed for 2015.
    • Do not allow 2014 to pass without determining what worked, what did not, what new ideas you have, and more. It is better to be aware than to ignore!
    • Stay tuned for daily questions, concepts, and considerations you should evaluate to close out the year.
  • Prepare yourself and/or your team for annual employee performance reviews:
    • To maximize the productivity of your team they need you to communicate with them (and you with your manager) regarding all aspects of their performance. Do NOT allow this critical process to be overlooked.
    • Stay tuned for daily tips and advice on this.
  • Corporate Professionals and Leaders – be proactive by assessing your performance, contributions and achievements this past year. More importantly, make note of where you could improve and where you need help. Whether your the CEO or a staff member, you are responsible for your own development.
  • Business Owners – record all transactions, expenses, revenue and more, and get your books closed on time and completely.
    • Compile all reporting, receipts and other materials that will be needed for taxes
    • Talk to your bookkeeper and accountant now and discuss what they will need from you to properly prepare for fourth quarter taxes and year end.
    • Schedule time with your financial analyst, CFO or accountant and review your financials thoroughly so you can plan appropriately for 2013.
      • Complete your revenue and expense projections for the new year and create that plan!
        • Should include overall Business Plan, Financials, Marketing Plan, Team Structure and more
        • Stay tuned for daily tips and advice

Whether corporate professional or business owner – Prepare for 2015:      HAVE YOUR PLANS READY TO GO JANUARY 1!

  • Review your 2014 Goals and assess achievement, challenges and adjustments needed for the new year.
  • Review 2014 actual expenses and planned budget and make the appropriate adjustments.
